Carter, originally from Hagerstown, Maryland, has been dancing for more than 17 years. Her love for dance began at the age of three at The City Ballet School under the artistic direction of Danielle Horochowski. During her time there, she performed many roles including Clara, Dew Drop, Snow Queen, and Spanish Soloist in The Nutcracker. She also appeared as a Princess in the world premiere of The Spell, an original work choreographed by Danielle Horochowski, and danced a featured solo as the Princess in Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale with the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, choreographed by Kylee Sherbert. Carter trained for two summers at the Kirov Academy in Washington, D.C., and participated in summer intensives with both Sarasota Ballet and Joffrey Ballet. From 2023–2025, she was a Trainee at The Joffrey Ballet in Chicago under the artistic direction of Ogulcan Borova. While there, she was part of Joffrey’s Winning Works program, helping bring new creations by Martha Nicols and Alejandro Perez to the stage. Most recently, Carter danced as a trainee with Grand Rapids Ballet under the artistic direction of James Sofranko. She appeared as a flower in The Nutcracker and performed in the world premiere of Sofranko’s Swan Lake.
Carter is thrilled to be joining New England Ballet Theatre for the 2026–2027 season and looks forward to continuing her artistic journey with the company.
